HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager is responsible for the coordination of the Magnet Program and Special Projects in close collaboration with the VP of Nursing/CNE utilizing appropriate interpersonal/communication, change management and leadership skills.
Responsible for Special Projects including the oversight of the Allied Health Credentialing and Peer Review Process, the Structured Communication Processes internal to Nursing and to the Management of the Structured process for insuring adequate support for Associates to meet the Professional Certification requirements for Magnet as well as to ensure Good Shepherd's continued success in achieving Centers of Excellence.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager's role, along with other members of the leadership team, is to promote the provision of effective, high-quality patient centered care to all patients.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manger counsels and advises associates as they seek advanced education.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager is responsible to oversee and monitor performance of the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI) for patient outcomes, nurse sensitive patient satisfaction and nurse satisfaction results.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager works collaboratively with the Managers, Directors, Human Resources, other Department leaders and staff to ensure interdisciplinary, collaborative relationship and understanding and integration of Magnet standards into work performance and processes.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager works with physicians in order to support a collegial and interdisciplinary patient centered care environment.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager is responsible for facilitating and managing Patient Care Division's special projects as assigned.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manger is responsible to design and educate all levels of associates in all departments who contribute to the Magnet environment.
The Magnet and Special Projects Manager is accountable for collaborating with others to ensure that nursing meets or exceeds selected standards of nursing excellence supporting an integrated shared governance model for nursing.
This role has accountability to ensure Shared Governance in support of the System approach to culture change, as well as to ensure The Advocate Nurse is reflective in the Good Shepherd Magnet Process.
Participates actively in the Advocate System Magnet Council.
Accountabilities:
Special Projects Provides Oversight of the Allied Health Credentialing and Peer Review Process Responsible to effect Structured Communication Processes e.

To develop and implement Structured Process to ensure adequate support for associates to meet professional certification requirements To ensure The Advocate Nurse is reflected in all processes and design of Nursing, including in the pursuit of Magnet Oversee and facilitate Special Projects as assigned.
Provides leadership in the planning, developing, implementing and evaluation of the Magnet Program standards.
Leads and assumes organizational responsibility for all aspects of the ANCC Magnet application, designation and re-designation processes.
Develops plans to ensure compliance with ANCC Magnet designation criteria.
Participates and assists with development of strategic plan related to Magnet designation/re-designation Utilizes in-depth assessment and analysis to determine organizational readiness for Magnet designation and identify gaps.
Works closely with nursing leadership and clinical departments to close identified gaps in systems and processes.
Monitors the performance of key Magnet indicators for NDNQI quality indicators, nurse sensitive patient satisfaction and RN satisfaction and works with nursing leadership to drive improvements.
Prepare annual budget for Magnet Program.
Utilizes knowledge, research, evidence-based practice and thorough understanding of the Magnet standards to develop integrated organizational interventions.
Designs, implements and evaluates organizational education needs related to Magnet.
Applies principles of adult education and learning theories when developing and implementing the instructional process.
Provides an environment of motivation and commitment to Magnet designation through celebration, continuous communication and education on the Magnet requirements.
Demonstrates project management skills.
Demonstrates creative problem solving skills.
Coordinates and supports other activities related to professional nursing practice and care innovation as assigned by Chief Nursing Officer.
Partners with all nurse leaders to ensure focus on exemplary professional practice, quality, safety and patient care outcomes.
Counsels and advises associates in their pursuit of higher education.
Ensures through education of all departments, the understanding and knowledge that reflects a magnet organization.
Oversee completion of educational needs assessment in development and design of house wide education plan in support of the Advocate System Nursing educational needs assessment.
Provides leadership to meet and exceed Magnet standards of professional nursing practice.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with administration, nursing leadership and all staff to ensure achievement of goals related to Magnet readiness.
Mentors leadership team members to ensure the development of enhanced knowledge related to Magnet.
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of standards of nursing practice on a hospital-wide basis.
Provides leadership and direction for Nursing in meeting and exceeding standards of nursing practice.
Consults with the Directors of patient care areas, nurse managers and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) for Magnet standards and nursing processes.
Serves as a resource for Magnet standards to directors, managers and staff.
Serves as a professional mentor and resource for promotion of evidence-based practice and professional standards of practice.
Collaborates with the nursing leadership to identify clinical activities to facilitate the professional growth of staff.
Designs processes and programs in collaboration with CNO and nurse leaders to support professional development related to education advancement and national certification of all nurses.
Responsible for timely completion of Magnet Program Requirements Develops appropriate timeline and prioritizes work that results in a comprehensive submission reflective of the achievements, outcomes and successes of the hospital.
Develops and submits interim reports and DDCT (demographic tools).
Leads teams in preparing written Magnet document and completes submission every 4 years.
Acts as liaison between Good Shepherd and the Magnet ANCC office.
Coordinates readiness activities for Magnet site visit.
Provides guidance, support and an overall plan that engages administration, physicians, staff and all inter-professional partners in Magnet site visit activities and preparedness.
